IObit WinMetro 1.2.0.693 specifically designed to transfer the newly Windows 8 Metro UI interface of Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP. It offers a simple solution to the old version of Windows, users can try and enjoy tiled interface based on Metro UI. This solution allows you to display a lot of useful information, such as weather, calendar, news, stocks, and frequently used programs, it turns your desktop into informative and productive workstation.
WinMetro is specially designed to bring the newly introduced Windows 8 Metro UI to Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP. It offers an easy solution for old version Windows users to try and enjoy the tile based Metro UI. By displaying useful information such as weather, calendar, news, stocks, and frequently used programs, it turns your desktop into an informative and productive work station. It also offers the option to boot to Metro Start Screen directly.
The Beta version of WinMetro has a few quirks right now which I’d like to address below:
You can’t add or remove tiles or shortcuts from the interface. It would really be helpful if you could add your own programs to the listing.
The Windows key does not switch between the start screen and the classic desktop. The keyboard shortcut Windows-X needs to be used instead.
The MetroBar process is running in the background even if you select in the settings to not run the program in the background so that it can only be terminated manually.
You can’t just type to search when on the start screen.
Platform: Windows 7 / Vista / XP.
